Explore Hotchkiss’ new art installations and community-led art exhibit
The new southeast is more than a place for growing families and new Canadians to rest, rejuvenate and explore, it is also a space for local talent to flourish and Calgarian classics to shine.
On October 15th Hotchkiss Grand Opening guests and future homeowners can also take part in a fun, fall, family-event and make their mark on the new southeast. Iconic and local muralist crew – Drip and Roll – will lead the interactive art therapy experience. Join them as they teach guests their tricks of the trade.
Drip and Roll will also be revealing their six Hotchkiss art installations, which will feature odes to the new community’s natural landscapes and diverse environment, and personal ties to home.
Make yourself at home in Hotchkiss, among the colourful lifestyles and inclusive background. Explore the art below.
Live the life you’ve only dreamed of:
Meadow
Hotchkiss is nestled within gorgeous natural landscapes of Southeast Calgary. The quiet surrounding meadows and picturesque scenery provide residents a place for their spirits to rest and recuperate. Drip and Roll’s mission with “Meadow” was to allow residents to take up space, accept a refreshed sense of new beginnings, and reflect within the tranquil freedoms among them.
“Pause”
“Pause” reminds city-goers to take a moment to breathe. Enjoy the balance of serene sunsets and mountain views found in a neighbourhood only minutes from the action. Everything you could want to live your best life, lives here.
Thrive among the thoughtfully designed homes fit for every type of family:
“Patience”
The violin, much like the growth of wildflowers, is one of the hardest instruments to master and requires careful attention and patience. Paolo Sabater’s personal journey as a violinist, taught him that only with patience will one truly thrive. The representation of wildrose flowers and pine trees, native to the Alberta region, depicts symbols of longevity and unity.
“Music in Bloom”
Like a flower, music blooms in all places. And without borders nor boundaries, we can truly allow ourselves to flourish. Remembered for their beauty, rather than short life, cherry blossoms bloom and impress, surpassing all barriers. “Music in Bloom” recreates the motions, fluidity, beauty and thriving possibilities nature, music and art experience when set free.
Explore the wide open spaces, and relax in a welcoming community where you and your loved ones will truly belong.
“Peaks”
A drive through the Canadian Rocky Mountains is not complete without being met by the Three Sisters. A vista so grand and majestic that the quaint neighbouring town to those three great peaks welcomes you in as if your insignificance truly belongs there.
“Perspective”
A personal dream of Paolo Sabater’s was to become an astronaut; to see from above the borders of lands and constructs below. By taking on new perspectives, we can all celebrate our diversity together. We can all belong.
Our goal in Hotchkiss was to create something new and give everyone the freedom to bring their ideas to the wide open, untouched landscape. These pieces are meant to be sentimental to current Calgarians, while also representing a home for new Canadians. We brought these ideas to life by incorporating our team’s favourite pieces of Canada: music is home for me so that comes through in the second piece, mountain views and city-skylines are comforts to Calgarians – that is illustrated throughout, animals and wildlife had to be represented, as thanks to their abundance and prioritization in the surrounding land. Whether you are passing through, or settling down, a native local or out-of-towner, we hope you enjoy the experience. – Paolo Sabater
